DJW FRANKFURT “朝の会”

The Japanese-German Business Association (DJW) invites you to share ideas, contacts and information on business-related topics while enjoying breakfast at our “Asa no Kai” in Frankfurt. Our guests will be welcomed by Consul Yoshitaka Tsunoda. The event will be held in English.

Topic: “EPA, Brexit and the Shift in Worldwide Policies – How Recent Developments Impact the Japanese-German Bilateral Cooperation”

With regard to German/EU-Japan relations, the past year has been vivid: While Brexit and US-American policies foster the process of isolation and separation from long-established economic partners, the ministers in Brussels and Tokyo have agreed on a mutual economic partnership between the European Union and Japan. To which extent could this agreement be a counterforce to worldwide developments? How do recent political developments, not only in the UK and US but also in continental Europe, influence economic decisions within companies? Which steps could be taken and which projects could be realized in order to enhance a globalized, cooperative world?

Speaker: Gerhard Wiesheu, Chairman, Japanese-German Business Association (DJW) / Partner, Metzler Bank

Gerhard Wiesheu has been Chairman of the Japanese-German Business Association since 2011. He is personally liable partner of B. Metzler seel. Sohn & Co. KGaA, member of the Partners’ Committee B.
